Nuvus iPhone news app now serves 2 million page views, hits 25 million overall

Our iPhone news apps ( News One, News Australia ..) now serve around 2 million page views a month. Analytics tells me that we have served more than 25 million pageviews (impressions) till now ! Not bad !

News Combo in top 10 iPad news app in all major countries

News Combo is now in the top 10 iPad news app in all the 4 major countries, USA, UK, Canada and Australia.

The app aggregates news from all the major news sources (more than 500 of them).

Our iPAD news app, NEWS COMBO featured in NEW AND NOTEWORTHY

Our news apps on the iPhone have been popular in all major countries, including being in the top 3 Australia news apps for past 2 years. Finally, we released our iPad app, News Combo, based on the same stable and powerful backend. News Combo is now featured under NEW AND NOTEWORTHY in US and Australia (the only two stores we checked).

Custom Dial now in top 50 utilities apps in US

Custom Dial allows you to create your own photo dialers on your iPhone screen using pictures from your photo album. So you can have icons with your girlfriend, wife or kids picture ! It was reviewed by CNET and it was in the top 10 of many countries and in the top 50 of US utilities.

iBluff, our social trivia app HOTTEST trivia app

iBluff Trivia is our social trivia app with more than 50,000 trivia questions submitted by more than 40,000 registered users. Within a week of its update, the app was listed under the "Whats Hot" apps !

UK Restaurant Finder in top 5 UK location apps

Store locations and GPS based apps are what make iPhone apps better than software you run on a computer. We had an Indian Restaurant finder which was running from a built in local (iPhone) SQL lite db. That brought in a lot of limitations and was simply not something that was useful. We completely rewrote the app and launched our restaurant finder apps:

India Restaurant Finder covers more than 2000 Indian restaurants. It has a lot of cool features (share with friends, show nearby restaurants on a map, reviews etc). Now that we have a store locator, we went ahead and developed our UK restaurant finder app. You can browse by county, cuisine, add favorites, get directions, call, read and submit reviews ! 


And surprisingly as we were checking the ratings, we are now among the top 5 navigation apps in UK. That surely will provide us the necessary impetus to go ahead and add more features and push this to the top spot in the category ! 

iAsk our Yahoo Answers app gathering momentum

A genuine platform where users can ask questions and get answers was missing. Since early 2009, we were planning one but never got to that because of our commitment. Kevin spent a week to get the basic server side going at the Google app engine and with that in place, we decided to go for a full fledged iPhone app for a Question and Answers app. 

So iAsk ( Questions and Answers ) app was born. We are adding every feature that our users are asking for. So now you can post questions, answer, rate, flag questions and answers. You can add friends, send private messages too ! You can post polls or pictures which others can rate. In the next update, users can chat. And blog too !


In addition to this, users can search the whole index of Yahoo Answers!, browse latest answers, browse by categories. 


A lot more is in store for iAsk. We do not have any ads and do not plan to add ads in the near future. The app is turning out to be a great platform and we would like to see where it goes !

Trivia success and other games apps

In 2008, it was easy and tempting. Any trivia app released was getting at least 100 sales the first day. We soon had around 10 trivia apps. One of our apps True or False, a fact based trivia app had a release issue and with a few negative reviews in, to make up for it, we released the app for free. The free version became a hit and we were consistently among the top 5 trivia apps in US and other countries.

A month back, we did a major update to the iBluff : iPhone trivia app. True or False  app. We released an online version where users can play online, post their own questions, guess if posted questions are bluffs or facts. With more than a few hundred thousand downloads this app had in the past, the updates helped get in the users and every day we were picking around a thousand new registrations. Users keep posting their questions and now we have more than 20,000 user submitted questions and more than 20,000 registered users.



We are working to make this app more interactive and take the success we had with this app to the next level !

We had great success with our Labryrinth style game: Amazing Maze.  We had our fun with our animation and puzzle games.

iPhone News apps and their success

We had a few news websites and especially a news aggregation website. So when we were experimenting with iPhone apps, getting a uiwebview (embedded safari) with minimal native UI got us going and we had our first news app:  News India Lite . Soon we have news apps for five different countries, News UK, News Australia, News USA and News Canada. 

News UK became the 6th MOST POPULAR overall app at the UK app store. This was amazing ! Apple UK asked us to change our icon so that they could use that for their UK promotions. Our app News Australia was featured at Apple Australia stores across Australia. Check the picture on the left. This is from a store in Australia. 


Our News Canada got featured in the Canada app store. News USA was once among the top 10 news apps in USA (now it is nowhere in the top sellers). However our News UK, News Canada, News India and News Australia have been the #1 news app in the respective country.




Not only that, recently, after a major update, our News Australia was FEATURED in the NEW and Noteworthy category at the Australian app store. For the past 1 year, News Australia have been the #1 news app in Australia. This is helping us to forge partnerships with other companies in Australia in newer ventures. 


We have a few other news app ( News World, News One). And we are working on a major news app for the iPad launch !

The Nuvus iPhone story so far !

Our first few apps did very well at the app store. Thief Alert was one of our first successes. It was among the top 10 paid utilities at the US, France, Italy app store and did amazingly well during christmas 2008.

It uses the accelerometer and alerts the user if someone is trying to steal his/her iPhone.

Priced at a dollar, this led us to more iPhone tracking apps !
